God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change,
Courage to change the things I can and wisdom to know the difference
AMEN! The Serenity Prayer was picked up in a federal council of
churches book for US military chaplains and servicemen during world
war II. I hear it is still being used today. Thank God when it works you
don't change it. God give us grace to accept with serenity the in
that cannot be changed, courage to change the things which should be
changed, and the wisdom to distinguish the one from the other. Living
one day at a time. Enjoying one moment at a time. Accepting hardship
as a pathway to please, taking, as Jesus did.
This sinful world as it is, not as I would have it. Brilliant in its simplicity,
the Serenity Prayer is one of the key spiritual tool used by virtually all 12
step recovery supportprograms worldwide today. For so many people
in desperate situations--seeking peace, strength, and wisdom-- those
simple words have seen them through their darkest hours. Millions
have come to believe that those qualities can come only from a power
greater than themselves. Because they believe, they find the serenity,
courage and wisdom they seek to face another situation, another step
another day. The Serenity Prayer is being use all over the world.
Serenity Prayer came into general use alongside our two other favorites.
The Lord’s Prayer.
